The world is waiting in anticipation with reports of a possible new world-record large mouth bass caught in Japan. Normally you’d expect this news to come out of southern California where big bass are regularly caught such as the one Mac Weakley foul hooked weighing in at just over 25 pounds. That monster was caught in Dixon Lake and many assumed if another such bass was caught that was the hot spot. Now it appears that the place to go for monster trophy bass is half way around the world Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture in Japan. The reports are of a 22 pound, 5 ounce world record bass caught by Manabu Kurita.
If the record weight for a bass is certified the bass is 1 ounce heavier than the current record large mouth bass held by George Perry which has stood for 77 years. Sadly even if certified the new rules by IFGA require world records of fist 25 pounds or under to beat the old record by 2 ounces which would technically make this a tie.

that’s a crazy big bass
